During this period, participants refine their vision, develop structured business or ministry models, and build the strategic, operational, and financial frameworks necessary for sustainability.
This phase is highly applied. Leaders are not only learning—they are building in real time, with guided support, accountability, and evaluation throughout the process.
Embedded within the residency is the 90-day launch—an execution-focused phase where leaders move from planning into action.
Participants implement a structured launch plan designed to activate their initiative in a real-world context. This may include launching a business, ministry, program, or organizational model. The goal is clear: to ensure that every leader leaves not just with a concept, but with something that has been initiated, tested, and positioned for growth.

The DLU Think Tank and Doctoral Defense is the culminating commissioning experience of the 25-week residency. It is not a classroom presentation. It is a formal doctoral defense before a faculty panel and sphere leaders — a public moment where each resident presents their dissertation research, organizational framework, Business Model Canvas, and 90-Day Impact Launch Plan as evidence of doctoral-level contribution to their field.
Following the defense, residents are formally commissioned — recognized, affirmed, and released as credentialed operatives within their 7 Mountains sphere of cultural influence. The founding cohort's inaugural Think Tank culminates in Kona, Hawaii, marking the transition from structured formation into active cultural deployment at scale.
The Think Tank is not the end of the DLU journey. It is the beginning of the contribution that journey was always building toward.
The DLU Doctoral Formation Residency is a research and formation investment — not a tuition payment. Candidates who are accepted into the founding cohort are not purchasing a degree.
